Chevrolet Colorado: Ready for Just About Anything
Let’s present an overview of the things to keep in mind for the 2023 Colorado when talking about its power and towing capacity.
GM estimates that the Chevrolet Colorado will have a maximum torque of 430 lb-ft and a very powerful towing capacity, which according to AutoAubaine:
“The Colorado 2023 therefore remains one of the most capable trucks on the market with a towing capacity of over 7,700 pounds with the most powerful engine.”[1]
To this power are added 17 tie-down points to be able to transport large loads in the most optimal way, without any movement in the back.
It will be available in five versions:
- Chevrolet Colorado WT
- Chevrolet Colorado LT
- Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss
- Chevrolet Colorado Z71
- Chevrolet Colorado ZR2
Chevrolet Colorado ZR2: On Top of the Mountain
For those looking for a pickup truck with excellent off-road capabilities, the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 tops the list, backed by its well-thought-out technical capabilities:
- 2.7L turbo engine
- 17-inch wheels
- 33-inch MT tires
- Wider chassis
- Elevated performance suspension
An optional Desert Boss edition of the Colorado will be available. Not much is known about it at this point, but we can expect to find equipment that will further enhance its off-road capabilities.
2023 Colorado: A More Technological Truck
Its five driving modes tailor the truck’s performance to the terrain being driven:
Driving Modes |
Effects |
Normal |
Default mode: ideal for city or highway driving. |
Towing |
Takes into account the presence of a load to adapt towing performance. |
Terrain |
Ideal for uneven terrain or hills. Ability to apply brakes automatically when needed. |
Off-Road |
Increases traction on surfaces such as grass, gravel, mud or snow. |
Baja |
Optimizes power for sandy terrain. |
It’s always tempting to talk about off-roading when talking about a pickup truck, as they are equipped to handle this type of road. Chevrolet Canada understands that seeing the terrain is just as important as being able to drive on it.
Its ten available camera views provide a good view of the terrain the Colorado will be driving on.
In one of its columns, the Guide de l’Auto reports this about camera placement:
“Besides, the Z71 and ZR2 versions add a camera under the truck,
something no rival has[2].”
If you are driving into more risky terrain, you’ll be able to check for any obstacles under the truck.
All versions come standard with Chevrolet’s Safety Assist System, including:
- Automatic emergency braking
- Front pedestrian detection braking
- Lane keeping assist with lane departure warning
- Automatic high beams
- Follow distance indicator…
