August 16 2022,
Electric vehicles (EVs) are now more than just a phase: for many motorists, they are a necessity. Chevrolet, Buick and GMC want to follow suit by offering electric versions of their most famous vehicles. Read on to learn more!
Sept-Îles Chevrolet Buick GMC, your Sept-Îles dealership and garage, lets you know what to expect from these car manufacturers!
Chevrolet: Well-Known Cars, Now Electric
Chevrolet has had an impact on the automotive industry many times with its cars, and the progress continues with the Chevrolet Blazer EV. Chevrolet, eager to make EVs even more accessible to the mainstream, offers the electric Blazer, announced for 2024.
The electric Chevrolet Silverado was also announced for 2024. The ambition to have a Chevrolet EV and all their vehicle categories in full electric mode is what drives Chevrolet! The manufacturer provides cars with major changes without losing that familial aspect that makes the success of Chevrolet.
Chevrolet already has hybrid and electric vehicles:
- Chevrolet Bolt EV
- Chevrolet Volt
The upcoming Chevrolet vehicles will join these two models to keep providing cars with a good electric range.
The Silverado EV and Blazer EV were announced, but more announcements are likely to follow soon. Stay tuned!
Buick: Electric Cars Are… Electrifying!
Buick swears to follow GMC’s zero-emission guideline by already planning a line of EVs ready to make their appearance on the market. Many of your favourite vehicles will receive the electric treatment within a few years!
This new range of EVs was announced under the name “Electra Serie”. This name was given to an iconic Buick model, now representing the whole future line of 100% electric Buick vehicles. An electric Wildcat concept is also part of the plans for 2024.
The Wildcat EV Concept was announced through the first pictures revealed, showing a futuristic looking vehicle. The Car Guide gave its take on these revealing images:
“Buick took the automotive world by surprise this week when they unveiled the Wildcat EV, a concept car that gives us a hint of what the brand’s future EVs will look like. No matter the angle you look at it, it’s hard not to be moved by this vehicle!”
Between the Wildcat and the Electra Serie, Buick is ready to provide exceptional cars to motorists who want them!
GMC: A 100% Electric Hummer, of Course
The Hummer has, with time, gained the reputation of being a greedy fuel consumer, so this change is a complete turnaround!
A Hummer EV will make everyone happy by providing the construction quality of a Hummer, known for being sturdy, while giving it a 100% electric engine. Moving such a car with an electric engine is quite a feat that GMC can add to its accomplishments.
Antoine Joubert, from The Car Guide, had the opportunity to drive GMC’s future electric Hummer and gives us his impressions:
“This is a machine that embodies all of the engineering and technological know-how of General Motors, a fearsome, boldly styled all-terrain conqueror featuring a remarkably advanced air suspension, several drive modes and four-wheel steering technology which includes the now-famous “Crab Walk.” It can perform U-turns as easily as a compact car would.”
Some of its features were revealed:
- A 24-cell Ultium battery bloc
- Three engines
- An expected power of 1,000 hp
- 11,500 lb-ft of torque!
These technical features make it a very powerful vehicle, a match for the first Hummer models. The Hummer EV is still in pre-production, but the electric Hummer’s first test drives were quite promising!
